Campaign and polling[edit | edit source]

The race initially started out with Beach running unopposed, but after an action on his behalf was brought up regarding SamuelM1 and Laryn, SamuelM1 switched to the senate race from the house, where he was challenging Laryn, and formed a 'ticket' with her for the West congressional seats for the Senate and House respectively. He was too late too run as a Democrat in the Democratic Senate Primary, so instead ran in the general as an Independent-Democrat. The race became the most competitive in the Senate, with hard attacks being thrown on each other, being labelled 'the nastiest race of the election cycle'. After a while of each other competiting in the race, on April 18th, after an internal LTE investigation, Beach was exposed of committing voter fraud by creating fraudulent accounts, and subsequently dropped out of the race. This leaves SamuelM1 as the only candidate in the race. SamuelM1 won the West Senate Election on election day, April 21st, with 100% of the 6 votes cast.

Former candidates[edit | edit source]

Qwerty was running as a republican, before switching to the Democratic Party. He then became the vice-presidential candidate, with Amp, therefore replacing Crab. In exchange, Amp's main opponent, Vui, dropped out of the presidential race and ran for the senate elections. After an argument between SpGamer and RoRo, RoRo dropped out of the race. He was running under the Federal Union Party. After the deadline closed, Socialist5650013 dropped out of the Presidential Race and is running for this seat.

The day following the primaries, won by Kiwi Liberal and Trencito, Blue4740 declared himself as candidate, as independent democratic. This caused controversy, as he would divide the democratic votes and could allow Trencito to win with a minority of the votes, because of the First-past-the-post voting system used. Julio974 proposed an agreement to solve the problem: organize an unofficial primary between Kiwi and Blue. These primaries have been contested even before the results.
After Blue4740 won the special primary, the DNC rejected the results, and after Kiwi Liberal announced he was going to mute the server for a few days to study his exams, the DNC chose Nibblesnow to replace him.

Aftermath[edit | edit source]

The immediate after-effects were dramatic. After the announcement of the Overseas senate race, Blue4740 went into a very angry and emotional state, in which he left the server several times and was denounced by many LTE members for his dramatic actions and not accepting the outcome after the election.

Besides this race, there were no shock upsets of the night. Many races had close outcomes, such as the Senate Elections in the Southeast and Southwest along with the Overseas shock result.

The Democratic Party ended the evening with 5/6 senate seats in their control, an outstanding majority. This Democratic majority was expanded to full control when SamuelM1 announced a party switch from Independent-Democrat to Democrat in the minutes after his victory.

After all the senators were inaugurated, Vui was elected as majority leader by a deciding group of 3 Democrats not running for that office, Nibblesnow, SpGamer and SamuelM1.
