Alternative Vote Elections Acts - Constitutional Amendment #0003[edit source]

Preamble[edit source]

As the Electoral college has become more and more disliked for its undemocratic nature, this bill attempts to instate a new system much more representative. The bill will go into effect at 12:00 AM EDT time on June 17th after the election. The amendment will nullify the part in Article II, Section I of the constitution where it states “The electoral college voting system (winner takes all per each state) will be implemented once a 270 registered voter landmark is attained.”

Article I: Election System[edit source]

ARTICLE I, SECTION I - Primaries[edit source]

This system will remove the primary system of selecting candidates, instead, the voter will be shown a ballot on election day with all the candidates names on them, assuming they were not removed, or had not dropped out.

ARTICLE I, SECTION II - Voting[edit source]

On election day, the voter will be given a ballot with the names of all the candidates running for president, they will then write a number next to each candidate’s name as far as they wish to go. They will rank the candidates from one, to the last they care to fill out to. One being the voter’s first vote, two being the second vote etc.

Article II: Vote Counting[edit source]

ARTICLE II, SECTION I - First Counting[edit source]

Once the polls close, the votes will be counted as they normally are; all the first choice votes will be counted first. If a candidate has reached a majority of the votes already, then they will proceed to be inaugurated president on the 24th of the month.

ARTICLE II, SECTION II - Second Choice[edit source]

If no candidates have reached a majority, then the candidate which has the lowest amount of votes will be suspended from the election and the votes from that candidate will then go to the voters’ second choice. If the voter did not select a second choice, their vote will be eliminated.

ARTICLE II, SECTION III - Third and on Choices[edit source]

If a candidate still has not reached a majority, then the same procedure will be repeated again; suspending the candidate with the lowest amount of votes and moving the votes to their next choices, if the voter did not select up to the choice, their vote will be eliminated. This process will be repeated until one candidate has reached a majority.
